Stake is one of the few first casinos that’s available on New Casinos India, despite not being built for India originally.
They been sponsoring F1 and currently support football clubs such as Everton FC and Fortaleza FC, UFC in Brazil, the singer Drake and many other action sports. Still, there is no sponsorship with Stake in India and in many ways they don’t seem focused at all on the Indian market. Quite a few new players sign-up for Stake (see review) every week from Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Pune and even many smaller towns such as Kota in Rajestan and Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh. But why do they, when there are so many alternatives to compare.
Designed for underground crypto audience
Directly when entering the front page you wonder – where did I arrive?
The minimalistic design with a crypto dashboard feels slightly underground and targets an audience that already know what they are doing. There are original games in the top, many with RTP’s in the range of 98-99%, which is something that mainly experienced crypto native players are looking for.
One of the more unusual titles on Stake that’s featured on the casino startpage, Goth Ladies, are developed by a small studio called Alpha Play and they mention “Only on Stake” below the game. This rather unknown developer launched games exclusively on Stake and the game itself is rather fun and “different”. There are quite a few of those “Only on Stake games” which they call “2x VIP” themselves. They are built with Stake Engine, in a way that allow the game to come out quickly and exclusively on this site. Some of the game providers working with them for those titles include Titan Gaming, Pocket Play, Valkyrie, Hacksaw Gaming, Uppercut Gaming, Pragmatic Play and No Limit City. That Stake dare to put such an odd design on the frontpage surprises our team, but it’s fun to test out games that can’t be found elsewhere of course.
While the web design and UX is both fast and efficient, it might feel less intuitive for Indian users that prefer to see local payment methods visible and less the look and feel of a modern fintech site. Stake’s interface is clean and dark-themed, highly structured and with fast navigation between sections. Everything loads instantly and works without friction. In contrast to many Indian facing casinos that rely on bright colors and lots of banners and promotions, they keep things minimal here. I guess they try to keep it more premium and a bit tech-driven feeling. For Indian players on mobiles and mobile data or switching between networks, it’s actually really good. The design is built for a global audience rather than specifically for the Indian peninsula. While it looks modern and premium in many ways, it lacks local touches like India themed visuals, regional game highlights, or strong support for popular titles such as Teen Patti or Andar Bahar. Even the overall layout and design feels more suited for a crypto-native audience or international players than the average Indian user. But while the design is technically excellent, it doesn’t feel fully adapted to Indian preferences and payment methods, which some players might notice (and some might get annoyed) straight away. You can still visit Stake and let us know what you think.. some Indian players actually love it.
Mainly Pragmatic Play & Evolution live games
When some players see Stake’s live casino section, they will immediately be disappointed: Nothing that looks and feel Indian in the top of the section. You have to seriously scroll to find the few localized titles such as Teen Patti Live and Super Andar Bahar Live from Evolution. They have Chinese, Spanish, Turkish, Korean, Brazilian and Japanese speaking live dealers, but only two Hindi speaking ones: Hindi Roulette with a female dealer and Hindi Baccarat with a male dealer.
For those that love roulette and don’t care about the location of the dealers, play some XXXXTreme Lightning Roulette or Gold Vault Roulette from Evolution, alternatively some Fortune Roulette or the new Gates of Olympus Live Roulette from Pragmatic Play. There are few versions of Mega Roulette from Pragmatic Play with good RTP and you have the Lucky 6 Roulette game as well.
High RTP lovers would probably go straight to the blackjack section, but there are only 15 different alternatives which is quite low for a global site. While the One Blackjack live dealer might look a bit Indian, she is not and the same is true for all other games in this section. Which is your best live game? Find out on the official site!
UPI exist, but it’s hidden
Most casinos that offer UPI showcase it on the frontpage, on the payment methods section and so on. With Stake, it’s different. They don’t show it anywhere, but it can be used from different third-party solutions such as Moonpay. This brand go with a crypto first friction, so many different coins can be used. The withdrawal reality is a bit annoying since it’s always needed, for both crypto users and those that go with UPI. On the pure UPI casinos, you can expect instant and simple cashout but here you should rather use cryptocurrencies for the quickest withdrawals.
The bonuses comes without a welcome..
Most online casinos targeting India and international audiences have some sort of welcome bonus, motivating players to sign-up and give it a try. Stake does it differently, without any kind of traditional welcome bonus. Instead, they have a VIP / rakeback system, that give frequent players reloads, weekly and monthly bonuses. Indian expectations are usually at least โน10,000-50,000 in welcome bonus and some cashback from start. Stake have chosen to reward loyal players over new players instead.
Feels international, not Indian
The site itself feels very international, despite having Hindi language. It’s only partially there, but not deep enough. All text on game images for instance are not translated and in general the team behind feels a bit lazy when it comes to the localization. There are no regional languages supported at all, such as tamil, telugu and bengali. There is also never any local festivals or promotions for Diwali and other important Indian holidays. Competitors such as BC Game does it much better when it comes to localization.
Too much choice, not enough local curation?
Indian taste when it comes to game discover is quite different from the British or American taste. Stake offer 6000+ games, with strong filtering. However, they don’t have any kind of Indian themes, not even for games. There is also no priority or visibility for cricket themed slots or other local favorites. You have to scroll endless to find anything even party Indian. The other major complaint for Stake include that they require KYC early on, even before the deposit. If you don’t like that part, check out our list of no KYC casinos instead.
Trusted globally, but still unfamiliar locally
Being a crypto first brand, Stake never taken a big market share in the Indian market, despite being one of the top brands globally. They have a valid offshore license from Curacao, and are very flexible for all players with cryptocurrencies, but also for those that prefer to use traditional Indian rupees. What do you prefer? See for yourself on Stake!
